Elisa Farías

Language: Spanish

Elisa Farías Mendoza graduated with a degree in Communication Sciences from the Lasallista Benavente University. She is a defender and scientific disseminator of neurodiversity and an entrepreneur.

From a young age, Elisa was passionate about the study of biology and astronomy. However, due to her learning difficulties, motor clumsiness, social interaction challenges, and the bullying and sexual abuse she suffered as a child, she struggled to learn and developed anxiety. During her adolescence, she delved into self-help books and took several courses in human development and emotional intelligence. In her search for answers to her behaviors, she studied courses with renowned coaches like Tony Robbins and Joe Dispenza in 2015. Her investigative spirit led her to explore mental health, and after what she calls a “pilgrimage” through various therapists, psychologists, and doctors who were unaware of her symptoms, she was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) at the age of 40 during a deep depression.

In 2017, with multimodal treatment (psychoeducation, medication, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and the application of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for ADHD, her life took a quantum leap, prompting her to speak about the importance of early diagnosis. In 2020, she was diagnosed with complex trauma, and in 2021, she was identified as twice exceptional, having both ADHD and high intellectual abilities.

Elisa’s passion for neurodevelopmental disorders and neurocognitive differences grew, leading her to attend the Autism-COTY Congress in November 2017, her first ADHD-ProyectoDah congress in November 2018, and the ADHD and Substance Abuse Symposium in Barcelona, Spain, in January 2019, invited by the renowned doctor and researcher Dr. Joseph Antony Ramos Quiroga, an ADHD expert. On March 8, 2019, International Women’s Day, Elisa launched her social media platforms, “Hablemos de Neurodesarrollo,” to highlight gender differences in diagnosis and promote neurocognitive differences. She also addresses the consequences of lack of detection in childhood and the impacts of sexual, psychological, and emotional abuse in childhood, promoting mental health with strict scientific rigor.

In December 2017, Elisa participated in various radio programs, including those for the National Pedagogical University in Celaya, Guanajuato. Since January 2019, she has been a member of RED TDAH Spain, contributing to a section on their website (Neuroeducacion – Red TDAH). In April 2019, she shared her testimony with Fundación CRYNDI at the Memory and Tolerance Museum in Mexico City. In June 2019, she was a Special Guest at the UNAM Juriquilla Neurobiology Institute during the ADHD month in Querétaro, Querétaro. In July 2019, she participated in the International ADHD Day commemoration, with the first monument in Mexico illuminated in orange to raise awareness about ADHD with Fundación TDAH Irapuato in Irapuato, Guanajuato. In October 2019, she took part in the ADHD Foundation’s event in Querétaro, Querétaro.

On October 10, 2019, World Mental Health Day, Elisa was invited by the Ministry of Culture of Hidalgo to participate in the dialogue table “Papalotl, Transformation of Mental Health” with Fundación CRYNDI. In February 2020, she attended the 5th Congress on Neurodevelopment and Cerebral Palsy by the Mexican Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Puebla, Puebla. In July 2020, she was named a member of the United Countries for ADHD Network and launched an ADHD awareness campaign on social media from July 13 to 28, featuring interviews with experts on the subject. In May 2021, she began collaborating with ADHD WOMAN based in Brussels, Belgium. In October 2021, the Fundación Mente Neurodivergente signed its first agreement with UAQ in the area of psychology, including the master’s degrees in Educational Sciences for Citizenship and Mental Health. In December 2021, she was the only Mexican to participate in the First Congress on Employability and Neurodiversity in Valencia, Spain.

On her YouTube channel, Elisa has interviewed renowned specialists such as Dr. Norma Echavarría, Dr. Juncal Sevilla, Dr. Javier Tirapu, Dr. Josefina Ricardo Garcell, Dr. Beatriz Moreno García, Dr. Carlos Chicalote Castillo, Dr. Edilberto Peña de León, Lic. Francisco Roballo, Dr. Ana Paula Tovar, Dr. Manuel Antonio Fernández, and Psychologist Manuel Hernández, among many others.

She has given conferences for various universities, schools, and institutions such as the Autonomous University of Querétaro, the Psychology Student Society of Anáhuac University Querétaro, the CIVIT Virtual Intelligence and Talent Summit, Global Shapers Tijuana, Colegio Latino de Chetumal, United Countries for ADHD Network, and Columbia University in New York, among others.

For the past 15 years, Elisa has been an entrepreneur, spending 7 years in Corporate Event Organization and since 2012, in the real estate sector.

She formed a WhatsApp self-help group for Adults with ADHD, where doctors and individuals living with the same condition as Elisa participate.
