Dr. Mauricio Chinchilla was born in Alajuela Costa Rica on March 16, 1977, he completed his primary and secondary studies in Costa Rica. He obtained the title of Auxiliary in Medical Emergencies and Heavy Vehicle Rescue in 1997, being a member of the Costa Rican Red Cross. In 1999 he obtained a scholarship from the International Red Cross to study medicine. He graduated with honors in 2005 as a General Practitioner (MD) from the Latin American School of Medicine. He joined the College of Medical Surgeons of Costa Rica in 2008. He completed postgraduate studies in the Specialty of Family Medicine in 2009 at the Latin American School of Medicine, graduating with honors. In 2013 he obtained the title of Specialist in Neurology with Honors. He did training and collaborations in brain monitoring and disorders of consciousness at the University of Salzburg, Austria. He has attended multiple international scientific congresses, as a speaker and showing the results of his research. He has received multiple awards for his research work and has published more than 90 publications in high impact international journals. He has more than 18 years of experience in the care of patients with neurological diseases, which has allowed him to care for patients in various countries such as Mexico, Spain, Saudi Arabia and Costa Rica. In 2023 he became founder and consultant of Developing Brains, a multidisciplinary therapy center for neurodivergent children. In recent years Dr. Chinchilla has focused his research on autism and ADHD.
